GLUT can't be open sourced as the original license we are under states clearly. I do plan on releasing the new code ASAP (for a couple reasons, which likely become clear shortly, besides for the fact we are required to).

So this can still happen, but it will require someone download the glut source from <http://developer.apple.com/samplecode> and submit any changes back to us. I am very happy to take any code improvements, pending quality and functionality review of course. Also, folks can just write bugs with code changes directly in the bug which I will incorporate. Expect glut on the sample code site to be up to date with whatever the latest build I have here is (which is not the way it has been previously). This way we will get a better review for features and quality from you guys.

Just a thought, but if GLUT and the other "peripheral" libraries went into the Apple Open Source bin you could all get a helping hand on those by the people who use them. Short of legal entanglements this sounds good to me.

We do not pre-announce software releases or updates so I can't give you dates or estimates.

understood - as you will appreciate, I've got to decide whether it's worth coding a workaround, or easier to wait, but I'm well aware of Apple's policy on pre-announcing.

There is no OpenGL/GLUT fixes in any dev tools releases.

which at least saves me from that potential pain
