Just a thought, but if GLUT and the other "peripheral" libraries went into the Apple Open Source bin you could all get a helping hand on those by the people who use them. Short of legal entanglements this sounds good to me.

We do not pre-announce software releases or updates so I can't give you dates or estimates.
understood - as you will appreciate, I've got to decide whether it's worth coding a workaround, or easier to wait, but I'm well aware of Apple's policy on pre-announcing.
There is no OpenGL/GLUT fixes in any dev tools releases.
which at least saves me from that potential pain
