Re: 3D Modelling Tools

If you want free, I'd suggest blender. It a recently opensourced modeller that is very powerful. It has a rather large community, and there's plent of tutorials floating around on the web.

It has python as a built-in scripting language, so it is a simple job to make an exporter. I made one that exports OpenGL code, and it works quite nicely....

Hi,

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive (or free) 3D modelling
tool that runs on OS X and that I can use to create 3D
objects for my 3D "virtual world" I am creating in OpenGL for
a computer graphics class I am taking? I notice that many of
the 3D modelling programs out there export something like an
obj file or some other file format? How do I get that into
my OpenGL program in a display list or vertex array? I'm new
to using OpenGL so any help on this subject would be
appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Chris
