Volumetric 3D, Intersecting planes, recreate view after window closure

I'm writing an open source viewer for medical images and i ahve recently ported my graphics to OpenGL and I have threee questions.
1. Image data from CTs and MRIs can be stacked into a volumetric dat set. SGI has an OpenGL Volumizer for working with this type of data. Does anyone know of way to display volumetric Data on the mac in OpenGL.

2. CT and MRI images can be crossed references with other image sets that are aligned in different planes. If for each image, I have a point in 3D representing the left upper corner and two vectors representing the edges. How would generate a reference line on each image indicating the intersection of the planes.

3. After closing the window I try and reopen the window, my subclassed NSOpenGLView no longer displays correctly. How do I regenerate the view/context after window closure.
