Many people owning a PowerMac G5 SP 1,8 Ghz - Radeon 9600XT are facing a bug
in TIGER 10.4.0
TIGER freezes sometime complete when running full screen OpenGL video/photo
opérations, for example :
- Running diashow in PREVIEW or in the FINDER (by selecting somme pictures,
ctrl+clic and the contextual menu)- Running a full screen diashow in iPhoto
- In SPOTLIGHT, viewing a picture
- Viewing a video in QUICKTIME 7 PRO (full screen)
This bug doesn't occur just after the Mac has booted, but few time after....
It's not a kernel panic, since everything freezes and we have to boot the
Mac again
PS : No problem in PANTHER
Jean Mathieu

Fullscreen content ALWAYS freezes PowerMac G5 1.8 SP Late 2004 when used with ATI 9600XT There's a huge bug in Tiger that appears only with a particular type of hardware : the powermac G5 1.8 single processor introduced in october 2004 (with a 600 Mhz Frontside bus) combined with the Apple OEM ATI Radeon 9600 XT with card. With such a hardware, playing a Quicktime movie in fullscreen, viewing a slideshow (in iPhoto, Preview, Mail) fullscreen ALWAYS freezes the computer. Viewing a Quicktime sequence embbeded in Safari always freezes the computer. Playing iTunes sreensaver in fullscreen always freezes the computer. On this paticular hardware, this bug is highly and easily reproductible.
