JOGL is the Sun (Java) and SGI (OpenGL) approved approach to do exactly
what your asking for -- OpenGL from Java. JOGL stands for Java Bindings
for OpenGL. The Mac OS X download is here:
I've written a book for beginners on using JOGL, "Learning Java
Bindings for OpenGL" (available from all book stores ... yada, yada,
yada). More importantly, I have several free chapters up on my site:
Is anyone doing OpenGL from Java or is it all C++/ObjectiveC here? In
particular, I'm wondering if I can combine OpenGL with other Mac
technologies such as Core Video and QuicKTime by writing some native
glue code but still doing most of the application level programming in
Java. (For example, how could I get a CGLContextObj from JOGL, etc.?)
I'm just starting out in this area so if anyone can recommend any more
appropriate forums, or resources such as sample code for me to look
at, I'd be most grateful!
