Compressed, rectangular textures?

I'm creating textures with an internal format of GL_COMPRESSED_RGB_ARB. Is there any way to have arbitrary widths & heights here using GL_TEXTURE_RECTANGLE_EXT ?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but thought I'd ask just in case I'm missing something...
