I had a similar problem after installing the last quicktime update (the
Sound.k.h wasn't available anymore), so I ran the update once again and
it worked. Maybe this relates to your problem.

Yes, it does. I had the same problem. Apparently, some update takes away the header. The QuickTime SDK reinstalls it. Check out this thread:

BTW, I found this by typing "update sound.h" in Google. There are more pages describing the problem.
