Re: Detecting Radeon 8500 series cards

... and for your second question, you're looking for chipsets that start with
R2xx or RV2xx. Radeon 7500 is an RV200.

We ran into a crash bug relating to cards based on Radeon 8500 chipset/drivers (radar ID #3917073). Now we have a workaround for this for our project, but it is slightly resource-intensive, so we'd prefer not to enable it on hardware where it's not needed. What's the most reliable way to detect all cards running on the 8500 series drivers. to my knowledge that includes 8500,9000 and 9200 cards. i could just query for those Renderer strings - but are there any others? any better way?

TIA,
