Also, I'd appreciate any comments on the lack of point sprite support
on a Radeon 9700. I posted about this earlier in the week. The same
code I'm using on the x1600 fails miserably on the 9700 despite the
extension be listed as supported.
The OpenGL drivers for PowerPC Macs have not been updated since
10.4.3, so it's very likely that some critical bug has been fixed in
the drivers since then.
Is there any reason you're trying to use point sprites, rather than
quads? Quads actually work in the drivers, they have a sane API, and
they're not subject to arbitrary limitations. Points, and point
sprites in particular, always struck me as being a vile hack.
