I have about 300 5200/75LCs. They can run 9.1, but the hard drives are
small, and you will need to stick a lot of memory in them. After putting
OS 9.1 on the hard drive, you will have little room left to put other
programs, and it will be extremely slow. Of course, I think OS 8.1 is real
slow on these machines as well.

They will be very difficult to find. The 52xx series uses either Comm Slot
I cards (and I don't think there are any 100Mb/s comm slot I cards) or PDS
Slot cards. I don't remember if anyone sold 100Mb/s PDS slot cards or not.

Don't know if it would be worth upgrading these machines. Better to
purchase the $799 iMacs than spend about $300 ($150 for larger hard drive,
$70 for 100Mb/s PDS ethernet card, $100 for 64MB RAM SIMM) upgrading
something you won't be able to use in another year.
