Problems with duplicate usernames

Hi,

OSXS Parent and child setup with two OSXS (G4 867 and G4 500) as per JohnD's
excellent T&T6. I used Passenger to import the Excel created user files and
although it took about 6 hours to import the 550 users, all went well until
the servers didn't like the fact the "RealName" of two users were the same
when brought into MM with just shortname and workgroups.

I set up 3 sharepoints for HomeDir's by grad year (2006, 2007, 2008) and
brought the 3 Passenger files in one at a time to the child and deleted
after import.

I had 2 students in the latter imports that had the same real name (ie,
Smith_John and Jones_Jane) that deleted the earlier imports even though the
shortname and UID were different.

So, I had

Smith_John johns98 2006137

Smith_John johns65 2007105

Jones_Jane janej65 2006123

Jones_Jane janej86 2007133

When I bought them into MM via a text file with just the shortname and
workgroups, it told me I had 2 with the same "distinguished name". I
realized the problem and went through the Parent-Child-MM thing by hand and
entered the 2 deleted users with new unique names, shortnames and UID's.
Everything seemed fine until I try to login as one of the users. The server
gives the message that the user's documents can't be located and if I
continue anyway, the home dir sharepoint is mounted but not the group shared
and the document alias goes to the offline document folder on the local
drive. If I open the home dir. sharepoint and navigate to the user's folder,
I can access the folder and have the correct rights. All the other user's
folders are belted as one would expect.

Any ideas? I tried the above process a couple times with similar results.
