Re: Suggestions for Kindergarten

Hi,
I found it difficult with At Ease to have kindergartners and first
graders log in and didn't like to creat an unreal situation for them to
log in beause sooner or later they have to log in the way the program was
intended. I devised a plan to make it easier which works for me. I have
the classroom teacher print the child's last name, a comma and then their
first name on a card with marker and then they laminate them. Each time
the students come into the lab we play a game with the name cards. They
have to say their name to me, last name and then first, and they are
allowed to go to their station. We all refer to ourselves in the lab by
our last name, then the first, so I would be Davis Mrs. They love it
beause many of their names sound silly. This also helps the kindergarten
teachers because they students also learn their names in computer lab.
It is hard at the beginning, but by Christmas, almost everyone can log in
without assistance, and I have very little problems with first graders.
