Hang ups

I am getting frequent hang ups with my students when they log into a group in panels

It frequently happens on 9.0.4 imacs with MM 1.3

Our server is a G-3 B&W with ASIP 6.3 and its updates and the current versions of MM


Our students will log into a group and the computer will hang up on either the preferences or keychains.....When a student opens the group a dialog box appears showing the information coming from the server...it shows all of the items it is checking and it hangs up on one of the two mentioned above. This can happen sometimes up to 3-4 times on the same computer.

I have tried to remove the groups from the preferences as well as the individuals and it seems to continue...it is also random...I have no idea which student will be hit next even though they sit at the same computer everyday.

Any help would be appreciated
