Re: ibooks and laserwriter printing error -43

We have finally gotten to a point where things are running relatively smooth
in our 3 labs with MM so we decided it was time to get the ibooks back into
service. Imaging went fine but printing has been a nightmare. At first I
could not get anything to print in MM (laserwriter -43 error) Then I disabled
two conflicting extensions, PS printer and Adobe PS. I was delighted when I
was able to print, ...but it was only me. Okay, my prefs were copied to a
Test Users folder...didnt work. Test user logs in and selects printer in the
chooser...success. I log in to another ibook neither myself nor test user
can print unless printer is rechoosen while in panels . Doesnt matter that
it was already set in finder. What it seems to be telling me is that every
user has to log on to every ibook and set printer up in the chooser while in
the panels environment...an impossible task not to mention that none of the
students have access to the chooser. I have tried everything I could think
of. Forcing prefs does nothing it seems to be related to the individual
ibook. Another oddity is that if I choose our color laserwriter 4500 under
system access using the "color general" ppd everyone cant print without
rechoosing in MM. The printers we are trying to print to are all LW 8000 and
I have tried using the general, laserwriter, and generic ppd. I also checked
the HP site for updates. All ibooks are 9.04 and are identical. This
printing problem only effects ibooks, all other imacs are printing fine using
same system and same apps.

Has anyone been successful printing and if so, please tell me what I have
missed. I am throwing in the towel.
