Jeff,

I don't have any wonderful news for you. I had the EXACT same problem the
beginning of this school, except that there was no pattern (A - L didn't
apply). The first day, I had 2 teachers (perhaps some students, but they
seldom notice things...). I pushed it off on human error, not thinking
too hard about it. The next day, there were 6 or 7 more teachers, and
then I notice that it wasn't just the files missing, but the WHOLE
DOCUMENT FOLDER! Users don't have the ability to erase the Documents
folder, just the contents -- so something was goofy. (Yes, the prefs and
everything else were gone too)

Day 3 was spent all day on the phone with tech support, every 30 minutes
or so a teacher would call with missing documents, and I'd have to restore
from backup. It was a day from hell. Apple tech support decided it was a
rare/strange SCSI problem, and suggested a new server. I used a G3
all-in-one desktop machine as our server for the rest of the week, and
installed a new server over the weekend. (Just a note, no matter how bad
it gets... DON'T use a G3 AIO for a server!!!!)

I really don't think there was a SCSI problem. There have been too many
similar situations. While I don't have a solution for you, I just want to
warn you it may get much, much worse.

Good Luck,
-Shawn Powers
