AppleWorks preferences

I am having a problem with AppleWorks. When users login and attempt to
import images they are getting a message the XTND translator file is
corrupted and should be deleted. If I log into the computer using
system access the application can import the images.

I am using MM 1.3, with 8.6 and OS 9 clients. AppleWorks is installed
locally in the Applications folder.

I have tried copying the translator preference file to the users file,
the initial preference, and the forced preference. However this only
temporarily corrects the problem. If the user switches between machines
AppleWorks reports the translator is corrupted ... the user is no longer
able to insert graphics on the secondary or primary machine.
