Re: USB scanner

We use an HP 5300C USB scanner in our lab of 30 iMacs, 9.04, 1.3 etc. It set up quite easily in the panels environment:

Set up and test run your scanner in system access.
I created a user called scan and a workgroup called scanner. No one else has access to this workgroup. Give shared
documents access as well.
Locate the preferences on your hard drive system folder for the HP scanner. (There were three: 2 HP prefs and the TWAIN
folder) Copy those into the "scan" user pref folder.

Scanner users must save their pictures into the shared documents folder. They can then access them from their own student
panel on any computer.

<I would like to request some guidance from those hardy pioneers who have
successfully setup USB scanners in their computer labs. My question concerns
the implementation of a USB scanner in my MM 1.3 computer lab using SL iMac
clients. >
