Warning about Home Directory Sharepoint Names

Hello.

I'm an admin for several schools in my district, 2 of which are dual track English and French.

This summer, wanting to be nice to the French people, decided to try and name their Home Directory Folder (the folder that *houses* their directories) with the proper French spelling (ie. 1re Annee for First Grade, 2e Annee for Second grade, etc).

Anyway, for those of you who can write French, you know there's an Acute accent over the first "e"....I put that in and everything seemed to work fine....until the students started logging in. They could enter their username and password at startup and the process would start, but it would ask them for a password to access a volume on the Docs server. If they entered their user name and password again, their login would be refused and they'd get "Your documents could not be accessed at this time...." and their docs would never get mounted.

Now, I should have known better not to use weird characters in sharepoint names, but the strange thing is that I *can* log in as the student with their username/password using the Chooser on an OS 9 machine *and* the Connect feature of my Jag powered PowerBook.

So it seems it's something to do with the way MM handles auto-mounting the docs sharepoint.

Anyway, I only posted this because I didn't read it anywhere else (or at least never remembered reading it).
