I am working fine here with password changes for those that are in Mac Manager, the problem arises when the student is NOT in mac manager. I use All other users in a group called "open lab". So that those who are not in a specific class can also log into the lab. When one of these users tries to change their password, then Mac Manager crashes and clients can't find the MM server. I need to restart the server to get MM back.

Note: this has only happened to me once, and you might be able to just stop and restart the MM service.

Am I understanding you correctly? No user that uses MM should change their
password - now that 600 students and teachers have. I created everyone
with a generic password and when I was confident in the server's stability
I told everyone they could change their password. So what behavior do I
have to look forward to? I certainly haven't seen anything but a login
freeze here or there.
