Re: macintosh-manager digest, Vol 3 #855 - 2 msgs

Is the multi user items folder in its default location or another location set by you? If the later, try resetting the path to the multi user items folder. I've never used MM on an ASIP server - the Muli User Items folder might work differently on ASIP than OS X. If that is not the case, you might be stuck rebuilding all your users & groups & then moving their files into the new user folders.

I would also suggest that it is high time to update the server to OS X. That G4 is fully capable of running OS X server.

Have ASIP 6.3 on a G4 with 512 ram. MM ver 1.4.1 on all clients and admin machine.
Problems started with one user getting a "LaserWriter 8 cannot be started due to an internal error -5000" this continued to follow her to different machines so I tried deleting her printing prefs and then later even replacing them with a known working users copy. After that she was able to print so I thought problem solved. However, 3 days later she starts having the same problem along with allot of other students. At the same time I notice that all the machines have the same time setting which is about 6 hrs slow. To add to the weirdness even after I go to system access and change the time to the correct settings, it reverts back to the previous one as soon as it goes back to the log in screen. Soon after I discovered this problem none of the members in the students group could print. All showed error above.
I then tried deleting the .idx files for the users, groups, and computers. Following guide from MM: "How to recover an unusable database" This did not work either so still following the guide I tried replacing the "multi user items" folder with a new copy and then relocating the original Users folder (from the multi user items folder) into the new copy. Unfortunately when I restarted the machine after turning the MM extension back on the server froze halfway through startup and now when I open MM none of my users or groups are there.
I still have all of the users files and documents how do I get them back into MM?
