Network stalls?

Greetings,
I run about 100 imacs 9.2.2 mainly, using mm 2.2 off a single g4 server.
All was working well until updating from server 10.2 to 10.3 without
changing any settings. I now get server pauses maybe a dozen times a day,
where the network freezes (pauses) up for about 10 or 15 seconds and all the
machines freeze, then unfreeze and catch up on users keystrokes and
commands. Similar to when we used Appleshare 6. Its just long enough for all
the users to exclaim "my machine is frozen"-and then proceed to bang on
several keys- network wakes up and you hear all the beeps. It does not seem
to be user load specific. i.e. I've seen it happen with 4 users connected as
often as 24 users connected. I updated to 10.3.3 but still the pauses. I
did not see anything on Apple's site. Anyone have experience with this
issue?
