I have written an AppleScript which "forces" authentication to a fileserver
(= Linux server running netatalk for AppleShare services). Basically it
displays a non-movable dialog prompting for username and password, then
attempts to connect to the server using that information. If it gets an
error, it displays the error then goes back to the login screen. It does a
few other nifty things as well, but it's main purpose is to handle
authentication and ensure the right people are using the labs (to keep Joe
Cool from the street from coming in and using the lab).
More information on the scripts is available at:
http://www.uwrf.edu/~rr43/applescript/
I haven't updated the source code that's on the site in a few months so it's
slightly out of date. If you want more information on the code, feel free
to email me.
