Re: Need info on ibook vs. PC portable wireless lab

We have a few "carts" of laptops with airport base stations as the
access point. The base station is a breeze to setup and works very well
with the iBooks. We have a mixed bag of dell and gateway laptops
running WinXP and Windows 2000 that have varying success at switching
between access points easily.

The maintenance of the machines (both Windows and MacOS) is not a big
problem. You make an image of the systems when all is perfect and then
restore when things get hairy.

The main issue we have had reliably switching the windows machines to
different access points. iBooks can hop easily from one access point to
another. The Windows machines seem clunky in comparison (at least when
using an apple base station), requiring a restart or a sprinkling of
magic fairy powder in order to make the switch. Once the switch is
made, the windows machine work great. It is the main source of our user
frustration.
