Unable to save in Photoshop 6

Hi

I have a problem with one of the machines in our lab when saving in
Photoshop 6.0.1, students get an error of type 2 when they click on save and
the application terminates. The same thing happens with Illustrator, except
it terminates when students click on print from the application.

On the problem with Photoshop, I upgraded the OS to 9.2, I reinstalled
Photoshop but it didn't help. Next, I removed every font except for fonts
folder under system, then I removed everything related to photoshop on
system and reinstalled software again, restarted system and tried to save
with no luck. The error message only appears when you try to save.

In Illustrator the only problem I get is when trying to print, the
application terminates giving an error of type -3.

Any feedback or is there a step I'm missing to do on system? you would think
Mac are easy to fix once you know how! but this is a first issue for me so I
don't know how to fix it...I've looked for help on websites but everything
I've tried has not worked! :(
