symbolic links on CIFS volume

Can anyone tell me if Apple supports creating symbolic links on a CIFS
volume/mounted share? I am unable to copy certain applications that
contain symbolic links (iPhoto) to a CIFS share. The Finder says some
items cannot be copied. If I use cp from the Terminal, I get an
operation not supported.
