Re: LDAP/Single Sign on Problem

Everything works as it should, except the single sign on.
A user can authenticate, mount their home directory from the server,

What step did we miss in the set up?

As far as I know this won't work.

It will.

There's some confusion over the term single-sign on.
It relies on kerberos,

Right, and the afp server is kerberized.

to associate a token with the authenticated
user. For any service (eg: web browser, email, mounting dirs ) to
be able to use this token, the application needs to be kerberos-ised.
Most applications are not built with kerberos support,

Most in question in Mac OS X are (afp client, smb client, mail client, Safari).

and so they will
not be able to access the already authentictated token.

Err.. well they need to use the tgt to get a service ticket. But that's not the point really.

Therefore they
will use their own authentication mechanism, and prompt for the username/
password.

Maybe others can refute this, but I don't know of many places that
have this functionaility in a cross platform environment.

a) he didn't say anything about x platform

b) The AD plug-in configures the OS to get and use a TGT, and single sign on works quite well with Active Dir. Safari even knows how to do spnego with IIS. This to me constitutes cross platform.
