Re: Netboot grief

Hi

On my server (10.3.4) netboot images are in: /Library/NetBoot/NetBootSP0

And my build images are in Shared Items.

In Server Admin you can set where and on what drive images or client data are stored, as well as probably moving/symlinking the /Library/NetBoot folder to another drive, if you wish.

I have seen this before. It usually has something to do with NFS. Did you
create the share yourself?

You may consider deleting and re-creating the share. Also, not having
experience with Panther Server this may sound naive, but, isn't the default
directory for netboot images, /Library/Netboot?

Well, I've beat on it some more...
The Netboot images that don't work are located in a /lib/pref/netboot... Etc
folder structure not on the boot drive.

If I move the images to the boot drive /lib/pref/... They work.

I'm assuming there's permissions grief on the second drive.

I did try to shut off netboot from that drive and then turned it back on to
recreate the folder structure as well as hopefully the permissions...but
something still must not be right.

Subject: Netboot grief

I've been attempting to get set to deploy a base os X image to new computers
via Netboot on a 10.3.4 server.

Unfortunately, when I netboot clients, they will begin to boot with the
spinning grey globe, then the grey pinwheel, and then will go to the grey
screen of death with the multi-language "You must restart your computer"
message.

I've tried several different netboot images, old and new. The old ones used
to work, but now nothing does.

Anyone have a good idea where to begin tracking down this problem?
