We do not know what is this limit.

A while back we did some limited tests with several ten thousands virtual interfaces (PPP like interfaces). This was to make sure the infrastructure was working well but we did not stress test this configuration with simultaneous data transfers on all those interfaces.

Can I ask why you ask?
