When I upgraded to Tiger, I suddenly was no longer able to communicate with my older Macintoshes using ethernet. The symptom was an error message saying "This file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol. You cannot connect to it."
I submitted a bug report to Apple, but they simply closed it without comment.
What can I do to restore communications with these machines? As a work-around, I transfer files first to a machine using OS 9.1, then relay the files to the older machines, but this is extremely inconvenient!

AFP is no longer supported in Tiger. You should look at ShareWay IP, which solves this problem.

Thanks! I'll try it!
