Making New Sharepoints appear w/out restarting the server

Hey,

We've added a hot-swapable firewire drive to our server so that we can swap jobs without having to shut the server down.

This works well except it seems that I must stop and then restart file services to get the new share point to show up.

Is there any other command via the terminal or net info that would make the sharepoint available without having to stop the file service?
