I can theoreticaly get up to 57.6 kbps with HSCSD (GSM channel bundling).
And this is far cheaper than GPRS. Getting the right AT-Commands to enable
the correct HSCSD mode is the tricky part here.
I don't have more experience with this as to get the right modem description
to make it work with my phone (Nokia Card Phone) etc. if that helps, feel
free to contact me offlist.
