Hi There,

I am running OS X Mail Server with Quick DNS by Men and Mice. Can anyone tell me why email is not getting through? here is the complaint:

Here is
the
problem:

Our site, tampa.winebrats.org is hosted with CrystalTech. The DNS is
controlled by Cailyn on a Mac server, where the main site
(winebrats.org) is
hosted. Our CrystalTech account in an IP-only account.

The dns records are listed as follows:

mail.tampa.winebrats.org A 216.119.106.141
mail.tampa.winebrats.org MX 10 mail8.crystaltech.com

Give me the exact email address that people are sending to. So far, in this email, I've heard:

1) email@hidden
2) email@hidden
3) email@hidden
4) something@crystaltech'sIPaddress

This makes a huge difference in what DNS records need to be.

The DNS that you give does *NOT* provide for anything except #3, but in my looking, I see that you left out enough information.

DNS sends mail destined for email@hidden to mail.winetix.com

The "real" name of mail.winetix.com is ns3.winetix.com

DNS has no mailer exchange records for tampa.winebrats.org, so mail shouldn't get there

Incidentally, mail.tampa.winebrats.org is the same machine as mail8.crystaltech.com.

So mail going to email@hidden is going to a different mail host than mail sent to email@hidden. Is that the desired behavior?

You must make sure that mail8.crystaltech.com is set up to receive the mail.tampa.winebrats.org email, and that mail.winetix.com is set up to receive winebrats.org email.
