Re: openssh 3.4 configure error - openssl (solved)

I was able to configure/compile it by doing the following (doing this from memory, sorry):

1) Downloaded openssl-0.9.6b from openssl.org
a) extracted the tar file
b) Copied the include/openssl/* files to /usr/include/openssl/
2) CFLAGS="-I/usr/include/openssl" ./configure
(that's in bash, adjusted for your shell...)

BTW, although others reported that they had to mkdir /var/empty, "make install" in openssh 3.4 seems to make this directory for you.

I have openssl 0.9.6 installed via fink (/sw/lib/libssl.0.9.6.dylib).
Do I have to specify a configure option to get it to find my openssl
library? Or is it that I don't have openssl header files?

../configure --with-ssl-dir=/sw --with-tcp-wrappers

should do the job.
