What Chuck describes works just fine, but you can also use the desired name as "User Name" and shorten it for the short name. Log-in, mail or file, works with either name.

Example: User's name is Christopher Smith, e-mail address is email@hidden

Enter User name: Christopher
Short name: christop

mail that is addressed to email@hidden will be delivered to email@hidden and Christopher can log-in either as Christopher or christop.

Communigate Pro is a far better mail server with a whole lot more going for it. With AMS, I like the fact that your Users & Groups is identical for file services and mail services. If you have a large number of users and want to be able to do filtering and virus scanning of incoming mail, Communigate can't be beat.

Let's see here. If it is for mail purposes only, I made a group with the
name of the user's old email address (in this case "Christopher", and have
his new user "cke" the only person in it). He has to log in as "cke" to
check his mail, but email sent to both "christopher" and "cke" get to him.
