Just a thought: the Xserve with its two turbo-blowers will probably sound
like a jet taking off. Unless you can stick this baby into a sound-proof
cabinet of sorts you'll probably have a hard time speaking with your
co-workers in the same room.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually heard an Xserve in operation yet, but I'm
extrapolating from other server-grade hardware that packs a lot of punch
into one rack-unit.

You'd probably be much better off waiting for the 7460 G4s that are
reportedly coming at MWNY in two weeks' time. They'll likely offer similar
or better performance, more PCI-expandability (not a bad thing for a video
editing station), and will surely be much quiter. And, who knows, maybe the
design will eben be sleeker than that of the Xserve ;-)
