Re: Deleting users at the end of the year

Ahhh, but what if root cant delete something? This occurs even after clean install of the OS. Do you have any idea what the title of the article is?

That is not normal behavior - there is a Kbase article out there with
instructions on how to reset permissions. The root account should always
have the ability to move/change/delete user items.

This is what I do. Even as root I can not delete the users folders
unless it is from the command line.

Log in as root, run Server Admin (log into that as admin) and delete the
users first. Using that list of users, then delete the home directories.
Launch MM admin and run verify, it will automatically clean and clear
its
lists for you.

I have this problem on top of the fact that when I delete a user from
user and groups it does not give me permission to delete their folders
by dragging them to the trash even as root. I have to do it as root
from
the command line!

HI all,

As I look toward the end of the school year and the process of
deleting
the
kids who go on to the Middle School it seems like I will have to
delete
each
user from 3 places on the OSX 2.1 MM server.
1. Macintosh Manager
2. Users in Server Admin
3. Each users documents, listed by short name, on the "User Documents"
partition.

This will be a pain, particularly having to find the correct "short
name."

Am I correct in my thinking? Does anyone know of a utility that could
automate this - like the "Import Helper" or "Passenger" do for adding
users.
Maybe a magical command line thing?

The old version of MM under ASIP would give a dialog box and offer to
delete
the users documents when you deleted the users.

Thanks,
