Go to a terminal window and type

ps -aux | grep named

If you see a process called "named -f" running then BIND is indeed running.

I would try restarting BIND after doing the following in a new terminal
window:

tail -f /var/log/system.log

Any errors when you restart BIND should show up in system.log

Restarting BIND on OSXS can sometimes be a pain in the ass. I usually kill
the stupid thing and it will restart automatically. Trying to stop/start it
in ServerAdmin doesn't seem to work properly, and using ndc from the command
line doesn't either.

Find the PID and kill it.
