OS 9 clients can't delete files/folders

Hopefully someone can help me out. I've been banging my head all day.
The message is kind of long, but I thought it was best to detail
everything up front in case I'm messing things up that bad.

My users can create and modify their files. When trying to delete files,
OS X clients want to delete the files immediately, but OS 9 clients show
the message "You cannot move "<filename>" to the "Trash", because you do
not have the privilege to make changes."

When I mess with the "Network Trash Folder" folder under the share point,
I can occasionally make things work, but not for all users.

I've set up a directory called /Homes that stores all home folders. Under
this folder is a folder named staff and one named students. Under
students, there are folders named "1st Grade Students", "2nd Grade
Students", ... which are all sharepoints. Under the share points, I have
folders for each teacher's students. I also have a folder under Homes
named Staff, with a folder named Teachers which is a sharepoint.

In hierarchical terms, it looks something like, along with
permissions/owner/group:

/ (drwxrwxr-t root admin)
Homes (drwxrwx--- root admin)
Students (drwxr-xr-x root admin)
1st Grade Students (drwxr-x--- admin ehgrade1)
EHuston Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr1stu ehgrade1)
JKimpel Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr1stu ehgrade1)
MReinhardt Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr1stu ehgrade1)
2nd Grade Students (drwxr-x--- admin ehgrade2)
DWoodard Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr2stu ehgrade2)
HMcMillin Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr2stu ehgrade2)
MKlaus Students (drwxrwx--- ehgr2stu ehgrade2)
...
Staff (drwxr-xr-x root admin)
Teachers (drwxr-x--- admin ehteach)
EHuston (drwxr-xr-x ehuston ehteach)
JKimpel (drwxr-xr-x jkimpel ehteach)
MReinhardt (drwxr-xr-x mreinhar ehteach)
...

All 1st grade students use the login "1st Grade Student", 2nd grade
students use "2nd Grade Student" and so forth. Teachers log in as
EHuston, JKimpel, etc. Groups are set up so that the 1st Grade Student
user and the first grade teachers (in this example EHuston, JKimpel, and
MReinhardt) would all be a member of ehgrade1. All teachers are a member
of the ehteach group.

Okay, now that I've explained the set up, here's my question. What do I
need to do in order to make things so that everyone can delete files that
they have access to? File permissions are okay because users can modify
the files, they just can't delete them. It's got to be something in the
Network Trash Folder, but I can't figure it out. I've searched the
knowledge base and discussions and can't find anything that helps.

I've tried the solution suggested in the discussion board at
<http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?email@hidden0@.3bbafb17/6>
with no luck.

Any help will be most welcomed.

Thanks,
Sean
