I went through this instructions was able to make install, etc. but logging in doesn't work. Obviously I have missed something...

tailing the log I see this;
24.x.x.x UNKNOWN root [28/Jan/2003:22:55:02 -0500] "USER testuser" 331 -


any ideas? is 331 an error code?
