This might be a "duh," but does she have Rendezvous enabled in iChat's
preferences? Right on the first page there's an option about "local
messaging" or some such. That needs to be enabled.

Beyond that, double check the settings in System Preferences under the
Sharing tab to be sure that her computer has a /unique/ Rendezvous name. As
far as I know you can't really disable Rendezvous in the operating system,
just within an individual application.
