Hm. So I can't export home directories individually, as I currently do,
but I instead have to export all of /home? Does AppleTalk even
understand the concept of UIDs? Individual users may not be able to
read, let alone modify, their own files. From the appendix you referred
me to, it seems to imply that an OS X Server (separate from the
directory host) must host the OS X user homedirs via AFP. I'm guessing
this means Apple's using some new extension to make AFP aware of UID
numbers which didn't previously exist? Hm, yay...

Well, from what I can gather here, AFP to a Linux host for homedirs
isn't going to work - I'd have to host the homedirs on the OS X Server
system. Or I can use NFS.

Oh well, least now I know. Thanks for the info.
