Just got in on this thread, so excuse me if these have already been
mentioned:

1. Try zapping the PRAM by holding down command-option-p-r as the computer
boots up.

-OR-

2. Try hooking a monitor directly to the affected machine rather than going
through the KVM. You never know....

Hopefully, one of these will get you to a point where you can adjust the
resolution down again. I had something similar happen with my first
brand-new Mac, a Centris 610 back in September 1993 -- minutes after pulling
the new machine out of the box, I set the resolution to one not supported by
the monitor. This was before the OS was smart enough to automatically
revert to the previous setting after 15 seconds if you didn't confirm the
new setting, so here I was with a brand-new but completely unusable
computer. Talk about feeling nauseous! After some frantic phone calls, I
finally found someone who suggested zapping the PRAM; I did so and all was
well. You can believe I didn't do THAT again! :-)
