Inherit permissions from parent does not work

Hello,

I have MacOS 10.2.5 server. This concerns file share using AFP. I created a sharepoint with some sub folders for each user. Now I need to allow a manager to read and write files/folders to each users folder. I only want users to read and write files/folders in their own folder. below are the steps I took.

1. created all the users and a group for all the users to access the top level sharepoint and called it workergroup.

2. created another group for the manager called managergroup.

3. for each users folder I made their username the owner, put managergroup under group with read/write, and none for everybody.

Now everything is working as planned except when the manager adds files. It makes the manager as the owner but leaves managergroup as group and everybody as none. Folders made by the manager keep the same correct permissions. I set the sharepoint to inherit permissions from perent. I also searched the Apple discussion forum and tried the inherit_permissions and other netinfo fixes. Anyone have a fix that works?

Thank you. _______________________________________________
