I think it shouldn't take that long.

I assume ActiveDirectory is already up and running on some Wintel box. The clients can authenticate directly to the AD, too. The Wintel box must now publish its db via LDAP, then the OSX server can pickup the info for it's use in netinfo.

A good start that describes the way to go should be:
