Becasue php is crafty :) Really, you need to compile php with the same
options that everything else is compiled with, which includes all the
secondary libraries as well.

If the machine has kerberos installed, make sure your add the
--with-kerberos flag to php (php's ./configure is real bad about not
picking up needing kerberos) I don't think that's the issue though, the
symbols would be gss prefixed.

I'd say throw a --with-ldap=/path in there just in case something
somewhere is complied with ldap support (I betcha that's it, as IIRC
c-client compiles with pam and pam probaly has ldap linked in somewhere
for directory services, or something..)

happily pull the sources and see if I can suss out what's going on for
