It seems you skipped a process that appeared on the previous page of the
website. You have to create the "update" script.

If you look at the previous page on the site:

http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2002/09/10/sendmail.html?page=2

at the bottom of the page is a shell script that you should cut and paste into a
file you name "update" and place in the /etc/mail path. Then you run "chmod g+x
/etc/mail/update" to make the script executable. After doing that, you can run
the update script to compile a new sendmail.cf.
