Re: Does Apple Mail Server Work?

I've been experimenting with the idea of leaving IMail myself. I tinkered around with the Apple mail server, but haven't actually tried migrating my mailboxes over (should be a direct move). I made several backups of Apple mail server's data (on a small set of users) and recovered from them, but that was in an ideal environment.

For Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam, I myself would probably keep my IMail server as a gateway and leave my copy of Declude running on it. I like the IMail server for SMTP, just not for handling my user's mailboxes and WebMail.

To add to your question, I would like to hear from folks who have moved from another mail server to Apple's.

We have a Windows 2000 server running imail. I am considering switching over to the 10.2 mail server. However, I know the 10.1 mail server did not work so well. Has Apple made significant enough improvements to warrant its use? Bottom line: Is Mac os 10.2 a good, reliable, mail server platform?

Is there any way to set up anti-virus scanning on the mail server?

Are backups of the mail server reliable?

Thanks,
Adam
