First, let it be known, that I know how to configure BIND using the conf
files.

I feel like I have to come to the defense of QuickDNS here.

It is a GUI but the BIND conf files it creates are very conservative.

The comment about it creating PTR records willy-nilly is not true if you pay
attention to what the GUI is telling you in setup assistants.

Falling in line with Dan's comment: to GUI or not GUI does not exempt a user
from knowing why or why not to set up PTR records.

I CHOOSE to use QuickDNS as I can add a new zone into our primary and
secondary dns servers very quickly using it's GUI. (About 10 seconds,
literally since we've setup template zones to clone that apply to about 95%
of our usage).

The folks at Men and Mice are DNS experts. Cricket Liu (the author of DNS
and BIND) is on their team. They are very careful about how they manipulate
BIND. The interface actually prevents you from making a lot of common
mistakes that are NOT prevented by editing conf files directly.

Properly designed GUIs will not by default make stupid decisions for you and
QDNS falls into that category.
