Have you checked to see if you have been bitten by the log bug in Apple's
implementation of cyrus?

I don't have a link handy, but it's in the archives and the Apple
discussion boards. The boiled down essence of it is that sometimes the
next log file isn't created. You can manually pre-make them and it fixes
it.

That said your symptoms aren't exactly what I've seen from that issue before.
