RE: Mail Explosion

Here is something else I have found when the mail stops working. Under
accounts I notice that the server mail store goes from
"/var/spool/imap/user/%username%" to "unknown mail store". I don't know why
it is losing the path to all 1000 users mail store at one time.

Subject: Mail Explosion

Currently I am experiencing a huge problem with email. I am running
Applemail (cyrus and postfix) 10.3.4 on a Dual 2.0ghz G5. About every 3
hours I need to reconstruct the cyrus database in order for the POP mail to
come back alive. I use the following to do that:

su -

serveradmin stop mail

cd /var/imap

mv db db.old

mv mailboxes.db mailboxes.db.old

mkdir -m 755 db

chown cyrus:mail db

sudo -u cyrus /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/reconstruct -i

serveradmin start mail

That works great for a bit then it dies again. Some times even after a
reconstruction it does not work for a while. Does anyone have any clue what
I can do. I have over 1000 users and don't have a digital form of the
passwords so I can not redo the server and reimport users. Sorry if all
this is not making sense but my brain is not working too well.
